MANIFESTO

Part II

From Kejetia Market in Nigeria to the souks of Tanger; the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and Chatuchak Market in Bangkok to the back alleys of Hong Kong, Macao and Shanghai there is one pattern we trust in, one pattern to transport our goods, loves and lives. Branded by myths and legends, a global icon, a symbol of the intrepid traveller, globalization woven into a tartan.

It has been given more names than the 91 words the Inuit use for describing snow, it’s called Chinatown-Tote or China-Bag in New York, Polen- or Türken-Koffer in Berlin, Ghana-Must-Go-Bag in Nigeria and cabas Barbès in Paris.

We call it: THE STANDARD BAG; the last bag you’ll ever need.
Handwoven. 100 percent genuine leather. 100 percent legend.
WE SALUTE!

Sunglass model PERLON 115 is a characteristic MYKITA stainless steel frame in a navigator style with a subtly polygonal lens shape and bicolour surface design.

Developed by Chris Rehberger, PERLON co-founder,  also founder and creative director of DOUBLE STANDARDS, in close collaboration with MYKITA. The unique shape of the lenses originates from the PERLON logo typeface.  All the individual letters Chris layered, rotated and melded to form one absolute outline.

The two-toned surface pattern stems from cropping the PERLON logo, a reference to the label’s iconic record sleeve designs.

SIGHT AND SOUND

PERLON 115 comes limited to 50 pieces each colour.  An exclusive limited edition package pairs the sunglasses with the 7" vinyl PERL115 by Markus Nikolai  featuring sounds from the modern manufactory in the MYKITA HAUS.

The opposite of clubbing
needed to be invented,
flipping club culture inverse
and coming up with
a metaphor for this dilemma.

What is the opposite of clubbing?
Huh?
The answer to this can’t be
not clubbing

THE STORY OF
HOW NOT TO CLUB WITH
THE OCSID

When the discussions around GEMA* fees for clubs, even those not playing any GEMA registered music, were starting to take off and some of the clubs felt threatened by these charges, the staff at LIVING STANDARDS were wondering how this would influence the club culture in general and started working on how this could be expressed through an object.

The opposite of clubbing needed to be invented, flipping club culture inverse and coming up with a metaphor for this dilemma. What is the opposite of clubbing? Huh? The answer to this can’t be not clubbing, Chris Rehberger, founder and creative director of LIVING STANDARDS is summarizing the task they’ve seen themselves confronted with.

The result was AN
interpretation of
an inverted disco ball,

the OCSID light object.

OCSID is made of 8 differently sized black perspex rims of which some are opaque and others transparent in different grades. This results in a playful shadow painting on the walls around the object when switched on.

The OCSID light object will premiere September 15 2017 18 - 21hrs at ANDREAS MURKUDIS concept store with an open bar by Our/Berlin Vodka on Potsdamer Strasse 81, 10785 Berlin

* GEMA (Society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights)

The OCSID will be presented on September 15 2017 18 - 21hrs at ANDREAS MURKUDIS concept store, SUPPORTED by Our/Berlin Vodka on Potsdamer Strasse 81, 10785 Berlin

A SHORT
HISTORY OF THE
TURN TABLE

A few years back we were curating and installing a photography and illustrations show in New York City. Running quickly out of wall space because of the sheer amount of works a solution needed to be found, quickly. Renting tables for 200U$ a pop per day was out of the question.

The solution was to create a table made of hardware store material the handyman at the venue could recreate easily by himself with a very simple construction plan. The prototype was constructed in Berlin at the DOUBLE STANDARDS studio, the mothership of LIVING STANDARDS, and posted as a work in progress project.

Not long after posting, the first order requests ROLLED IN and the idea was born to go into production with the prototype. All of which were signed by CHRIS Rehberger with a large sprayed-on autograph on the lower surface of the table top.

The TURN TABLE is the refined version of the exhibition table and will be presented on September 15 2017 18 - 21hrs at ANDREAS MURKUDIS concept store, SUPPORTED by Our/Berlin Vodka on Potsdamer Strasse 81, 10785 Berlin

MORE
MINIMALISM

ProtOTRAINER
FOR LACOSTE

THE
MORE MINIMALISM
PROTOTRAINER

was produced during the time we were working
on the LACOSTE ESSENTIAL DESIGN
video content. We had the idea of creating the most
simple trainer we could think of containing
or mirroring all our core values combined with our
own DOUBLE STANDARDS corporate design.

A couple of changes we would still love to do
but the product manager we were working
with at LACOSTE left for another worldwide
operating footwear company.
Let’s see if something comes off of this too.

So,
this is what we were ending up with.
